NBG cuts monetary policy rate by 0.25PP to 6.75%

Quick Update

  • On its 30th of January meeting, the Monetary Policy Committee of the National Bank of Georgia decided to cut the policy rate by 0.25PP to 6.75%.
  • In 2018 inflation remained mostly close but below the NBG’s target. According to the Central Bank, risks to inflation stemming from external sector have decreased and this along with the weak aggregate demand led the Monetary Policy Committee to continue the policy normalization path.
  • NBG projects inflation to remain close to the targeted level and expects to continue monetary policy normalization.
